Thought Process
Just thought that I would scan in the pages from my sketchbook that I have done, It shows how I have brainstormed and attacked the word stress with words/phrases and images

Round & Round & Then..
Stress...
The theme of my Sound project.. Yes I have restarted it again.. I showed the idea to my tutor a few times and the ideas keep changing
Now, I have an edited piece of music, I have spent the past few hours listening to it on repeat with a sketchbook and a marker pen. The theme is stress, so whilst listening to the soundtrack I began to try and get into the frame of mind for when I am stressed, writing/drawing possible things that would come to mind when stressed. This is in order to try and find a way to create a visual feeling of being stressed.
My idea relates back to my idea with the room with the fan (see forum post). At first I discarded the idea, but after much thinking, I have come back to it.
My idea at present is:
A small lonely room with little light, camera pans around the room where the walls show imagery of thoughts. The room begins to fill up with all these different thoughts, so cluttered that it is hard to make sense of anything. Thoughts of: friends/, family, work, plans, daily routines etc. Not sure as to if a character will feature in the room, but I need to find a way to put across frustration, maybe fast camera moves as the camera tries to filter its way through the images to make sense of something. This all ends with the point of view of the character, where you see hands come away from the eyes, so the whole sequence featured in the darkness seen when hands are over the eyes. Now in live action, the camera moves up and down slowly to give the impression of slow breathing as to show the character trying to calm himself down
I quite like this idea that I have conjoured up tonight, i'm going to do some drawings tonight and tomorrow along with some tests to see how this turns out. I can't afford to change my idea again, time is running out...

Frustration
hmm, the title works for two things now, as this is the second time I have written this due to the previous entry "A Mission For Foo" overwrote the one I am now rewriting now... anyway..
I have had to start my soundscape over again.. I explained my idea to my tutor and it was best decided to go back to the original sound and think again as my current idea was too representative in putting an object to the sound that the mind could make sense of.
So I tried to start again but each time I listened to the original sound, I would think of miners and caves...
So that day I happened to get quite down, miserable and stressed out.. probably due to the amount of work I had to do.
so, I got my guitar and began to play which I usually do for when feeling like this, lets me forget about my problems and just concentrate on the music.
I played music that was similar to how I was feeling, due to liking this I recorded it and got about two and a half mins of music. With this I used "Audacity" to play around with the sound, playing it backwards and changing the pitch. This made a really cool sound, better than being played normally, so I have decided to keep it for the project.
Visually I want to try and create some sort of imagery to depict the feeling I was in when I made the sound, how I will do this I dont know, but my aim is create a feeling and not a small narrative of sorts like with the miner

ooo 3D
For those who have been following my Deviant Art page and the forum thread for the soundscape project, you will see the development of the miner animation from concept sketch to a moving character

Taking it furthur now, playing in Adobe After Effects, I have discovered the ability to play in 3D space, with cameras and such.
In this image(below) it shows how I am able to select duplicates of my animation and get a camera to pass by them as they move. Really impressed with the results I have acheived. I am currently in the process of building a small 3D world using 2D images

If you look in the image, you can see two windows above the timeline. The window to the left is what the camera can see, and the window on the right is so I can manipulate what is going on, where the camera and objects are placed etc

Back to the sound board
The previous idea for the Soundscape project has been archived as a potential 3rd year film now.
I have been tackling this brief wrong. So I have started again, this time.. no planning it out, just creating a random sound and seeing what happens.
The sound I have at the moment I got from playing with my guitar amp. Just turning the amp on and holding the cable, i got a humming noise, then grabbing the part that goes into the guitar, it made a louder hum, then by making it touch the guitar strings it made a more dramatic sound. So I did that and recorded it for 3mins and thats the sound I have now to work on
With the previous idea, I have been thinking about it all day and to me it is such a strong idea, I don't want to waste it. So for now it is archived as a possible 3rd Year Film, with the intention of making it in stop motion

Soundscape Visual Test
So far I have 3 images to depict the style of the animation. In a test to get an idea of how to create a dark room, working out how it looks without having to draw in dark colours, so anyway, with my webcam, i filmed my room in the dark with no light on. I made 2 videos, one with all lights off, and one with just the monitor on.
This is from the second video

Its a screenshot of my coat hanging on my door, whilst watching it over and over, it hit me... Grain..
So I took the 3 images I drew, put them together in a video clip and used "film age old" filter on Windows Movie Maker, and it got across what I wanted!

To enhance the idea of fear and tension, by making the film old and grainy helps to give that feeling. Image wise now, im on hold, need to concentrate on sound. It's been raining quite a bit lately, so if it rains tonight I shall record it, to get the sound of rain against my window

Soundscape
My next project for uni
This involves making a film backwards
What I mean is that I have to create the sound first, then animate to the sound. The animation has to be about 1-2mins in length, the sound must not at all be cut to fit. So I have to make sure I get everything right.
My Idea is about a boy in bed just when the lights go out to goto sleep, leaving only himself with his imagination.
Being in the dark and seeing shapes, and hearing sounds plays with his imagination, terrifying him and stopping him from sleeping
To follow the process of this, keep an eye out on my DA site and on my forum
