Nigel

Note: This is a True story, nothing has been altered or exagerrated in anyway. None of the characters featured are fictional, all the characters are real people who contributed to the life of Nigel

The story of Nigel began in Tesco's on Wednesday 24th August, the day before we leave for Reading Festival.

We were shopping for food, hence being in Tesco's. We were checking through what else we needed, when we came to a shelf with watermelons. I stopped in awe whilst the others walked on with the trolley. They came back and i said "we need to take a melon to Reading"

so Oz using a trusty coin, threw it into the pile of melons, the melon that the coin hit was the one we would take. We took it and decided it would be named NIGEL!

All that was needed was to bring life to him by giving him a face. We forgot to buy a permanent marker and forgot to look round the house for one to take. We arrived at the campsite, made camp, chilled out, met our neighbours. After a few drinks, myself and Oz wandered round the local tents asking for a pen. After asking alot of the locals, we decided one more and we would stop, fate would have it that the next tent was housed by pirates who had what we needed. NIGEL WAS BORN!!

Our mission for Nigel was to somehow get him laid, how this would happen we would worry about when the time came, until then, it was our quest to find him a lucky female. In the meantime we got him kissed by everyone who came to our camp, this being a huge collection of people. Nigel went to sleep happy that night.

As the day's went by, someone had smashed Nigel into pieces when we were not around... completly devasted, but under the influence of alcohol myself and Tom decided to eat his remains from the floor.
The following morning, we began to mourn him. Our neighbours had tape!, we used this to our advantage and resurrected Nigel!

Nigel was in loads of pieces now, but with the aid of tape, we brought him back to his original shape, it was likea a 3D jigsaw

This time nigel was armed and ready for action, armed with a Durex taped to the side of his head.

The weekend went on, still no-one would sleep with him, he began to leak through the gaps of tape.

It turned out that Ben had a hate for Nigel, so when the chance came on sunday night, he launched him into the darkness of Brown Camp.

The following morning, there was no trace of Nigel, no splatter, no trace of him whatsoever.

Some would say he perished
Some would say he was picked up by some random person
I like to think he is still out there and has happily used his durex.

I miss you Nigel, where ever you are

Please forward on this story, its a sad true story of a melon with a mission. He never meant to hurt anyone, he just wanted to get laid. Please share this story with others in hope it will one day find someone who knows where nigel is.. if he is still out there

Please leave a comment sharing your love/condolences for Nigel

Thank You

Dave Grohl Drumming, Iron Maiden and Trolleys!

I returned on Monday from Reading at around 4pm, it was a long tiring day packing up the tents and luggage, but now im home and here to share stories.

The weekend couldn't have gone any better, i saw some of the greatest shows ever and experianced again the campsite life, with this year being more involved.

The highlights of the weekend:

The Subways
The Cooper Temple Clause
Foo Fighters
Marilyn Manson
Iron Maiden
Juliette and the Licks

I saw many more bands, but they were the bands that had more of an impact.

-The Subways were a great crowd pleaser
-TCTC were incredible and have rised in the ranks of being a great band, the pit was one of the best I been in
-The Foo Fighters put on a fantastic show, this was my 3rd time seeing them and it was the best gig of theirs I had been to, they played so many old songs, only 4 from the new album, the gig was like a greatest hits show
-Marilyn Manson, i never ever liked him, but his show really surprised me, it was brilliant, the whole setup of it, the creepiness of the set, it was just something new that iv neva seen before
-Iron Maiden, wow! I thought no band would ever come close to Muse live, but Iron Maiden were just something amazing that iv never experiance before. One of the best performers ever, the way they played there instruments, the stage set up, the huge singalongs. It was like a theatrical performance, absolutly incredible
-Juliette and the Licks, I got there album and love it, when seeing them the sound quality was bad at first, but as the show went on, it got better and better, including when Juliette crwod surfed, so I should have some good photos of her as she came right by me. sadly tho, quite a fair few people started trying to feel her up and pull her clothes off which is just disrespectful and completly out of order

In the campsite we had our own mascot, Nigel the Watermelon whose mission was to get it laid, we didnt succeed but we managed to get it kissed by so many people. One night someone smashed him up, under the influence of alcohol myself and our adopted friend Tom decided to eat him from the floor... next day we got some tape and managed to put him back together, a reincarnation!

Trolley Wars! whilst wandering around we came across a huge gathering of people chanting "Trolley, trolley, trolley trolley trolley!"
We went to investigate, on the path someone was sat in a trolley, where at the other end of the path laid a barrel with the occaisonal appearance of someone volunteering to stand on it. The trolley then charged at the barrel completly taking it out and sometimes resulting in the trolley falling over, this would then be followed by everyone gathering closer as a form of a small moshpit then start jumping and chanting the trolley chant.

later in the weekend, the trolley wars came by our little camp, this time no barrel but 2 trolleys, the result being the 2 trolleys with people inside them charged at eachother followed by the little trolley chant and dance

so many more stories, maybe i will write them up another time

all in all, an incredible weekend
