What we do
Participo is a UK based consultancy practice, founded by Guy Dickinson. We use a hands-on, collaborative approach to help groups discover, learn and share knowledge and ideas.
Participo acts as a 'boutique' consultancy, collaborating with a trusted, crack team of technical, design and education experts to deliver solutions for our corporate clients.
Some of the projects we delivered over the last 12 months have been:
- The application design and hosting of a knowledge assessment web application for a major telecoms firm's entire UK workforce (over a million answers served!)
- User testing, interaction assessments and information architecture analysis for a top UK University
- Successful implementation of a wiki and blog-based knowledge sharing platform for a major UK mobile phone company.
As part of our client work and R&D, Participo focuses on developing 'social software' - ideas and applications that support our belief that groups of people work, learn and deliver real 'value' when given the freedom to informally collaborate and share their ideas and work through networked computing.
Our current interests are in the collaborative, business and educational potential of learning lists, we've been re-defining how weblogs can work for large organisations and we've been thinking a lot about how corporate learners spend their attention, the failures of traditional instructional design and how corporate learning should really be modelled on the advertising business.
Guy Dickinson has just launched ThinkFold, a collaborative outliner web application that enables groups to collaborate on ideas, plans, presentations, tasks, writing, projects and well, pretty much anything that involves people and their brains!
In addition to these activities, Guy Dickinson, has guest lectured at MMU Business School on software development processes and emergent themes in social software.
