Windows Vista – Guided Help

Average Reading Time: less than a minute.

I’ve just taken a quick look at some Windows Vista screencasts. One thing that really caught my eye was the ‘Guided Help’ – an automated (or prompted) macro-type function that shows you how to perform certain tasks and configurations.
It basically takes over the mouse cursor, highlighting the button presses etc. Of course, this stuff has been done, expensively with other apps, such as Captivate, but I don’t think I’ve seen a way to guide someone around the screen in such a deeply integrated way.
I can’t find any information about a developer kit, or whether these tools are going to be accessible for regular users…but these would be a real boon for training departments if you could create ‘guided help’ for basically any applications on the PC.
