Nice use of eye tracking software to review viewer behaviour…as TV becomes more interactive, will ‘viewers’ still sit still.
I’m unconvinced by the arguments here, though, there’s a lot of subtext to a keeping half a (tracked?) eye on a face while soaking in other info…and so the talking head provides familiarity, human context and a core, whilst you fish around…
I’d like to see the same eye tracking with just an audio file playing…
And why was there so much activity on the controls area – surely people click, and that’s it? Maybe they spent a bit of time trying to click the buttons.
And it depends on whose doing the talking…try keeping your eyes _off_ a great speaker, even if it’s just a head and shoulders…
This seems (as always) to be pushing an either/or design solution…why not both?
