This is what i was looking at at 2am this morning. Ugh. Basically a knackered version of a Mate’s self-produced ‘all in one, just leave it and it will install in one go’ DVD install of Panther, which i think was scratched. Basically bootable enough to format my drives and then fall over.
Unfortunately I had already formatted and partitioned my drive, so I went round in loops trying to eject the DVD (holding down the mouse AND eject key whilst powering up did the trick). So, I returned back to the original 3 disc set I have and plain sailing. Except I don’t seem to have a lot of fonts – in particular Trebuchet MS (my default for everything :-(. Weird. I only turned off Asian fonts on the install…any ideas? Is that not a default on the Mac and I just inherited it from elsewhere? Also, I am only copying over preferences, reg codes etc as I get asked for them – as opposed to my usual straight copy which has preferences crap from 3 years ago. So far, so good. Estimated productivity loss – 7 hours. Still, it could have been worse.
