Beeb told iPlayer *must* be cross platform
Average Reading Time: less than a minute.
Following on from yesterday’s post about the lack of Mac/Lunix iPlayer, comes this news from PC Pro:
bq. “The BBC asked the Trust if the Flash streaming service would fulfil its commitment to “platform neutrality”, but was told that a multi-platform service across downloads, streaming and cable was needed.”
The interesting question is will the streamed flash content be an ever increasing, always available, archive?
In which case the 7 day expiry of the iPlayer download service diminishes it’s apepal somehwhat, I guess as there’s a real benefit from using the ‘cross platform’ Flash service.
If you’re online of course.
