37Signals on writing vs. word processing…
Average Reading Time: less than a minute.
Great point by Jason Fried on the difference between _writing_ words and word _processing_ . It’s basically a defence of their pared down collaborative writing tool (I’ve used it as part of Basecamp it’s pretty nice).
It’s an important point – when I get back to a client’s office next week, I’ll be pushing an Instiki powered wiki ‘ecosystem’ as a lightweight knowledge capture/share environment. Insiki is a very clean, light wiki environment…it uses Textile markup to format, and that’s about it.
I really want to push the _conceptual model_ of wikis – rather than getting tied up in the formatting, look and feel and complexity of a full powered Media Wiki install.
In other words, I think it will be useful to have less interface – just focus on the concepts and content…
