IT-Analysis.com – Research proves that companies still don’t
“…there is a perception that staff prefer to be in a classroom rather than being online, with 26% of the IT managers surveyed claiming that staff preferred ‘chalk and talk’ training. This statistic appears to be based on the gut feel of the IT managers, as companies have not carried out any research to get any realistic comparison.Another key reason for eLearning not being used more widely is that of budget, with 15% of respondents claiming that lack of funding was stopping them from implementing online training, a view that was shared equally amongst small and large companies alike…”
Well, one way of looking at it is that 50-70% of these large/medium companies that are reluctant have still to be sold to. That’s a huge potential upside. It requires us as an industry to really understand the ROI of elearning, but I think this comes when there is a more sophisticated understanding (and acceptance) that elearning is part of an overall education/KM/Pref support strategy, not a piecemeal solution.
