BBC ‘giving away’ e-learning content
“…E-learning software suppliers today vowed to take legal action after the BBC gained government approval to offer free digital educational resources to schools…
…It’s difficult to see how a huge amount of (business) creativity will be going on when you’ve got a huge organisation like the BBC giving resources away for free…”
By way of e-learning post (link on the right —>)
Hmmm. I personally think this is a good move. The beeb makes great content, has a public service remit, schools are always skint and anything that develops a school’s ability to access world class learning materials should be applauded.
It would be cool for the bbc to distribute this over the web as well – teachers could assemble courseware on the fly. Distributed learning objects, encoded with xml etc.
The opportunity for businesses is to develop and support cohesive learning/community/assessment strategies and build tools to help teachers manage learning communities and content (oh wait, that can be done with a $50 weblog) – or move into commercial training, where the *real* money is ;-)
