Micropayments(ish) for listening to PopTech
Average Reading Time: about a minute.
IT Conversations is providing the audio from Poptech 2005 for a small fee…if you don’t want to wait a month or so for the free podcast feed.
It’s a neat idea – I really wanted to listen to Bunker Roy talking about the Barefoot College and Negroponte talking about the $100 dollar laptop.
Other than that, there’s a bunch of audio, but it’s missing the serendipity factor – the unexpected talks that popped up on my ipod last year from poptech 2004 were one of the highlights of my year – seriously, I had the most educational month with my autumn walks in the park.
This year, the context is a little light – although IT Conversations have pointed to a schedule page, I had to plough through the site to figure out if I wanted anything…it would be great to see a subjective overview of the talks alongside the buy button.
The talks are $5 each, or a $100 for the whole session – that’s about right, I wouldn’t mind paying $100 for access to all the sessions, but I simply don’t have the time right now…I’ll cherry pick a few I’m aware of and wait for the free serendipity from the podcast feed.
UPDATE – Did have some problems accessing the file earlier, but I’ve got the file, going for a walk…
By the way, Ethan Zuckerman has got a _fantastic_ post about the $100 laptop on his site…and a bunch of excellent posts on PopTech.
