Wow, that was unexpected. Maybe it’s because I’m British and reserved and uptight (maybe that’s just me), but I was surprised by my PC ringing at me just now. It was a Skype user, who discovering that i lived in Manchester, UK, thought he would call me up and find out about working over here.
I was a bit taken aback, even more so that it was voice – it felt a bit more intimate and therefore invasive (and more difficult to dismiss), but I kind of like the balls of fishing for info, so I helped him out. Luckily for him my girlfriend’s a recruiter, so i was able to give him an email address of just the right person. I don’t think he was expecting to be that lucky :-) Oh, he was from Poland, who are joining the EU in May, so he’s planning on arriving in June. If he makes it over here, I said I’ll buy him a pint. Gotta love the initiative of this guy.
This kind of behaviour is totally normal and acceptable in the states i suppose – I’m just a colonial relic ;-)
This guy has just basically performed expertise management!!
