The Daily Telegraph’s overview of Phil Beadle’s brain workouts for kids:
bq. “…(if) the child is old enough – try to get him to re-imagine it as a feminist or political tract. A feminist reading of Little Red Riding Hood might refer to the fact that it is poor Little Red, and not her absent elder brother, who is given the arduous chore of taking the flowers to Granny; a Marxist reading, say, might picture the wolf as a symbolic representation of capitalism, Little Red and Granny as exploited workers.”
To be honest, that’s unrepresentative, there are some interesting little techniques for engaging kids (and I suspect, flagging adult) minds with quick exercises…
