fantastic ‘reality list’

Average Reading Time: less than a minute.

I’ve just spent a brilliant weekend with three really smart guys thinking, designing and building Participo’s next two ideas.
We spent a lot of time stepping back and thinking about what sort of problems we’re trying to solve and whether anyone would actually use the bloody things…we think yes. Anyway, I’m writing this because I saw a link on Dave Winer’s site to Scott Heiferman’s 50 Reasons Why More People Aren’t Using Your Website.
It’s a fab reality check against all the bullshit and bubble talk of web2.0. Here’s my favourites:
* Because it solves a problem they don’t have
* Because they can’t think of what they’re passionate about
* Because it doesn’t work like yahoo or amazon or ebay
* Because it’s more than 1 screen to learn, unlike google
* Because it says “tags” or “rss” and they feel stupid
* Because they’ve never heard of flickr or delicious either
