Computer game theory – lessons for e-learning?

Average Reading Time: less than a minute.

Game studies. Issue 2, 2002.
“…Game Studies is a crossdisciplinary journal dedicated to games research, web-published several times a year at www.gamestudies.org. Our primary focus is aesthetic, cultural and communicative aspects of computer games…”
I expect this sort of french cinema disection to continue as people realise that games offer a huge body of useful info in fields such as interface design, community building and cognitive driven computer environments.
Why do people find it so hard to print a document in Word, and yet these same people are, with ease, able to control a game character with precise, highly varied movement, solve complex problems etc etc, with arguably less learning overhead and less sophisticated controllers?
I reckon that as games provide the most successful computer based; interfaces, learning environments and community management, that understanding what makes a game ‘work’ will be a key skill for people in e-learning.
