Scott McCloud and the Google browser
Apparently Google released some more info on their open source browser project today.
All looks great, however, what got me really excited was the Scott McCloud produced promo booklet they commissioned (slide show here)
Perfect way to get geek attention, methinks (and no copies on ebay yet).
More seriously, cartoon (and even just drawing in general) is a great way to transfer information like this.
Funny, really, this really feels like traditional e-learning modules circa 2000, except they're drawn really nicely. Oh, and the Google/McCloud info was actually a book(let), not a popup flash window.
Maybe books are the future of e-learning?
UPDATE: Ah, events are unfolding:
- The actual point of the comic book was to launch the Google Browser. This is Google as a provider of an Open platform for web apps. It's clearly a big deal. Good write up of the actual tech of the new Google browser here.
- Even better, there's a full-on, high-res Google Books version of the McCloud created pamphlet. Ironically running terribly at the moment...ah, the sounds of 1.6 milllion geeks all hitting the same site...
