Ogre to Slay? Outsource It to Chinese - New York Times

Fantastic:

"From Seoul to San Francisco, affluent online gamers who lack the time and patience to work their way up to the higher levels of gamedom are willing to pay the young Chinese here to play the early rounds for them..."

Isn't there a fundamental design flaw in these games, if their primary goal is to entertain, that people abstain from lower levels?

I can see the other aspect being lucrative - earning game credits and objects and flogging them on ebay.

And, by the way, this sort of article is where good old traditional media excels...yes, there will be bloggers commenting and so on, but good 'ol foreign correspondent pieces work and will (until we have localised bloggers reporting for 'us') continue to be the agenda setting. Plus take a look at the slideshow - it's a really simple, but elegant and highly effective piece of journalism
