Sandy - personal email assistant

Sandy — your personal email assistant looks really interesting...

Basically - forward @whatever tagged based emails with some key verbs ('remind' 'tell' etc) and this system will parse this into a reminder system, squirting back reminder

It's based, I think on the Stikkit tech (certainly the same team). I really like the personalised faux human copy - bizzarely I don't find it at all cheesy.

Email as an 'interface' is genius - parsing verb and tag based email is just a really bloody good idea - the ubiquity of email on every connected device I own creates this incredibly simple interface into apps like this.

I can't get on with the concept of trying to remember to email an external address though, tried it with Highrise but only really remembered 5% of the time, so not sure it helps the forgetful people it's supposed to help

As you know - I'm Mr Forgetful - but all I do remember to bcc Highrise - although I'm using it for a single project; I haven't put all participo's 'contacts' in there, but I should...it's a nice archive of important stuff, contextualised by people.

This Sandy thing is pretty good - it did just fail to correctly parse 'end of month', I would have thought they'd capture phrases like that...I'll use dates.

The trick is to remember 's' - my email autocompletes that address, and that's it...I get an idea for a reminder and I just send it quickly to 's' - very simple. Give it a try...you could add the address as 'D' if it helps ;-)

I tried out the service until I found 2 other ones that I really liked. One is called, ohdontforget.com, which basically allows you to submit things to remember for free. The other one is a company that you have to pay for called RedButler.com. Their memberships start for 35 dollars per month to place up to 15 requests. The cool thing is that it is a real person you are dealing with. They can remind you about stuff, set wake up calls, book your flights, make reservations and calls. I use them for just about everything I do. Both are great and can be really helpful.
